Hello and welcome to my website! Here you can find some random tidbits about me, links to various places to purchase my amazing books, ways to contact me, and a blog where I will sometimes ramble away! So wander around, explore, don't keep your arms in the car at all times, and do pet/feed the animals. They are friendly...except for that moose over there. He ate a child last week. One bite and the kid was gone. It was odd and we all try not to make eye contact with the moose anymore. He looks twichy. But anyway, I would like to say thank you. It means a lot to me, with all the other internet things you could be doing, you opted to stop by here. That is simply the nicest thing you could ever do for me. Your gold star is in the mail!

Review: Who Can Kill a Child? (1976)

A long time ago, when I was hunting around for obscure horror movies to watch, I read an interview with Eli Roth where he mentioned this film as creepy. I wrote it down in my little book I had of movies to watch and when I would go to video stores I would look for it. And, of course, I never found it. Eventually I added it to my Amazon wish list and picked it up a few months ago when I ordered The Phantom Tollbooth (I'm awesome and that is a great movie) and set it on my shelf. There it sat just waiting to be watched...and it finally was!

Without giving away everything in the film, the basic idea plot is a British couple travels to Spain to visit an island the man went to when he was young. When they get to the island they find it is deserted except for a few kids that pop up from time to time. Slowly they realize something is not quite right and, as the name of the movie suggests, have to figure out for themselves what to do when all the children have gone mad.

For a horror movie, there is very little gore. This is for sure more of a mental suspenseful movie. The most disturbing images actually appear during the opening credits...a run down of wars (starting with WWII and ending with Vietnam) is shown including real video and images of children caught in the conflict.

The movie was great; the town was shot beautifully and the acting, even the children, was better than I expected. Of course there are some cheesy lines, but really, would you want to watch a '70's horror movie if there wasn't? The ending was pretty much what I hoped it would be and was really well done.

I will be honest, when I watched it, I was a little sleepy so there were some slow spots when the couple first arrived on the island where I did nod off. So my warning...don't be tired when watching this!

All in all, this was a good creepy-ish suspenseful movie and I recommend you check it out if you can get your hands on it. And I already don't like kids very much so I would have no problem taking down those evil island children...or somehow making them work for me...either way!

Favorite part: When the couple is walking around the coastal town before departing for the island, they see some children playing with a pinata. The woman asks her husband "What is that?" and he informs her that it is a pinata...really now, how sheltered was your life that you didn't know what a pinata was?! This also foreshadowed a fantastic scene on the island with a different kind of pinata with some special giggling scythe-wielding children. YAH!
