I'm gonna get rant-y here but I think it is allowed...after all, it is my name that I am rant-y about. As you may or may not know (you know, if you look up you will see it), my name is Katy. That is like Katie, KD, KT, Catie, ect and so forth. You know what it isn't? Kathy. My name is not Kathy. There is no "H". My very most hated name is Kathy because lazy readers like to see the "K" and the "y" and just assume the middle letters are "ath". NO!!! READ PEOPLE!!!!
Sorry, cutting in...the TV is on and the newscast coming up at nine will feature a story that we all need to watch. "Is your hairstyle making you fat?" says the voice. Wow.
Anyway, growing up there were always other Katies in my class. No one with my spelling of course...I know now that there are other Katys out there and I love them all without meeting them cause I would like to think they all had the same problem. Teacher takes roll "Kathy?" "No, it is Katy." Damn it. Now I have to live with that all day.
My hate for the name Kathy has grown over the years just due to the constant throwing of the name in my face. I am ME, KATY, not KATHY!! LOVE ME!! Don't give me a sad, disappointed "Oh" when I correct you. Call someone else Kathy who doesn't give a shit.
While I can understand the lazy confusion of not reading, assuming an "H", and failing horribly at saying my name, I don't get how someone could call my Kathy in writing. I have received emails from coworkers and other unfriend-type people that will start out "Hello Kathy". Shocking. Painful and shocking. More shocking is when they continue to do it after I correct them. Way to care.
Done ranting for now. I got it out of my system. Also, Buried Treasure is playing on TV and they use the same music as Kitchen Nightmares and it is freaking me out. Have to kill the TV.
Website for Katy Davidson: the lovely, brilliant indie author/publisher and all around awesome chick.
Hello and welcome to my website! Here you can find some random tidbits about me, links to various places to purchase my amazing books, ways to contact me, and a blog where I will sometimes ramble away! So wander around, explore, don't keep your arms in the car at all times, and do pet/feed the animals. They are friendly...except for that moose over there. He ate a child last week. One bite and the kid was gone. It was odd and we all try not to make eye contact with the moose anymore. He looks twichy. But anyway, I would like to say thank you. It means a lot to me, with all the other internet things you could be doing, you opted to stop by here. That is simply the nicest thing you could ever do for me. Your gold star is in the mail!
